p>What do you do when you run a business and the major tool you use in your business breaks. What happens then?
Perhaps you’re a speaker, trainer or coach – your major tool is your ability to get up in front of people and present.
Perhaps you’re a writer – your major tool is your ability to craft meaningful, beautiful sentences.
Or perhaps you’re like me, and you do voicework – your major tool would be your voice.
My major tool has been on the fritz for the past week. I went on a business trip to Savannah and came home to a sick hubby. Darling man that he is, he shared his bad cold with me. I do love that man – truly!
Right now, my sound is somewhere between Lauren Bacall and a frog. Not a great sound, unless you have a cartoon client who wants something like that. Unfortunately for me and cartoon producers the world over, they haven’t found me at the right time.
Entrepreneurs and solopreneurs know that there’s always plenty to keep you busy when running a business, even if you don’t have your major tool. Administrivia, marketing and working on a web site have kept me occupied while trying to best this bug. And for the clients with ASAP jobs, I’ve done the best I could, with promises for free re-do’s when my voice actually sounds like me again!
What do you do when your major tool breaks? That’s something you should think about right now, while all is well in your business. Draw up a contingency plan, have some ideas of things that could get taken care of even when you’re not hitting on all eight cylinders, and put your ideas down on paper.
I hope your major tool never breaks, but it doesn’t hurt to be prepared!
Do you have a question about audio products? I’d love to hear it, and maybe answer it right here. Helping people monetize their content is what we do!
